Diamond dotted paper features and production process

Diamond dotted paper (DDP) is a insulation material and it has a wide range of applications. If we want to apply it properly, we need a basic understanding of it. In this paper, we will understand its basic concepts, characteristics and production processes.

What is Diamond Dotted Paper (DDP)?

‌DDP is a kind of insulating material which is coated with modified special epoxy insulating resin in diamond pattern on electrical insulating paper. ‌This material is non-adhesive and dry at room temperature (below 35℃), and has excellent insulation properties and stability. ‌

The Characteristics of DDP?

First, DDP is named for its unique diamond spot coating technology. This technique improves the insulating properties of DDP by coating the polyester film with a special layer of particles to form a diamond-like structure of many small particles. This design not only enhances the mechanical strength of the DDP, but also improves its tensile and wear resistance.

Second, DDP has excellent electrical characteristics. The diamond spot coating technology ensures that the surface of the DDP is uniform and smooth, free of pores and impurities. As a result, DDP is able to provide a consistent distribution of electric fields, reduce the risk of electrical partial discharge, and improve electrical performance and insulation. This makes DDP widely used in high-voltage equipment such as transformers and motors, which can effectively prevent the occurrence of breakdown and insulation failure.

Third, DDP has high thermal stability and moisture resistance. Thanks to the excellent heat and moisture resistance of its polyester film substrate, DDP is able to maintain the stability of its insulation properties in high temperature and humidity environments. This makes DDP ideal for many harsh operating conditions, such as power equipment operating in wet environments.

Finally, DDP is easy to process. Due to its flexibility and plasticity, DDP can be easily cut, laminated and bonded to suit the insulation needs of different shapes and sizes. This makes the use of DDP more flexible and convenient. In addition, DDP can be used in combination with other materials, such as paper, insulating paint and tape, to meet specific engineering requirements.

Production Process?

1.Raw material preparation: First of all, we need to prepare raw materials, mainly insulating paper and epoxy resin.
2.Coating process: The insulating resin or other related materials are evenly coated on the substrate to form an insulating layer. This step requires precise control of the thickness and uniformity of the coating. ‌
3. Drying and curing: The coated material needs to undergo a drying and curing process to ensure the stability and durability of the insulation layer. This step is usually performed at specific temperatures and conditions ‌.
4. Cutting and forming: According to product requirements, the dry and cured material is cut and formed to meet the specific size and shape requirements ‌.
5. Quality inspection: Finally, the produced insulation materials are strictly tested to ensure that they meet the specified electrical and physical performance standards.
